As shown in the Figure above, the Crimean Peninsula is a pro-Russia part of Ukraine[1]. It became part of Ukraine since 1954 when the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev gave it to the native land [1].
Geographically, Crimea located on the Black Sea with the area of 27000 square kilometers[1]. Its location is strategically important as it almost reach the land of Russia on the Eastern shore[1]. Besides, Russia’s Black Sea Fleet had its historical base in Sevastopol, the Crimean coastal city.[2]
Socially, There are around 2 million population in the Peninsula, with around 58 % ethnic Russian, 24% ethnic Ukrainian and 12% Tatars [2]. Besides, 77% of the people in Crimea speak Russian[3].
